eBay fee calculator

Read on 25 September 2026 from eBay selling fees. Fees on that page are in US dollars and apply to listings on ebay.com.

• This is the basic schedule, for a seller without a Store subscription. Store plans, eBay Motors vehicles, and eBay Live use other schedules.
• The fee base is the item price, plus handling, plus shipping you collect, plus sales tax, plus any other fees you collect. eBay calls this the total amount of the sale.
• The per-order fee is $0.30 when that total is $10.00 or less, and $0.40 when it is over $10.00. An order is the same buyer, the same checkout, and the same shipping method. This page prices one item, so it uses the sale total for that threshold.
• You keep the item price plus the shipping you charged, minus the fees. Sales tax sits in the fee base. eBay remits the tax, so the tax is outside what you keep.
• eBay's examples fold the per-order fee into the final value fee line. The lines above keep the percentage and the per-order fee apart. Add them when you compare a line on eBay's page.
• eBay's example is a $400 item with free shipping and $24 of sales tax. The sale is $424. The final value fee line on eBay's page is $58.06, which is 13.6% ($57.66) plus the $0.40 per-order fee. With a $0.35 insertion fee, total fees are $58.41 and you keep $341.59.
• eBay's trading card example is a $9,500 item with $570 tax, so the sale is $10,070. The final value fee line is $1,054.55 before the $0.35 insertion fee and a $4 Bold upgrade. This calculator leaves Bold out.
• The insertion toggle adds the fee eBay charges after the monthly free insertions: $0.35 for most categories. Guitars and basses are free. Heavy equipment, commercial printing presses, and food trucks are $20. Athletic shoes are free when the starting price is $150 or more. The athletic shoe row states that free case. Below $150, this calculator uses the standard $0.35 insertion. Starting price is the auction start or the Buy It Now price, and it leaves out shipping and tax.
• Men's and women's athletic shoes are 8% of the whole sale when the sale total is $150 or more, and the per-order fee is not charged. Under $150 the rate is 13.6% plus the per-order fee.
• The international fee is 1.65% of the sale when your registered address is in the US, you are not using eBay International Shipping, and the buyer's delivery address or registered address is outside the US. Leave the toggle off for a domestic sale.
• Listing upgrades such as Bold, and the extra fees for a Below Standard account, are outside this total.
